Employees hired under outsourcing arrangement in India’s government are struggling with the government not providing financial assistance even to those who tested positive for COVID-19. The support of leave with pay of up to 14 days even when family members are the ones who tested positive with the virus are only extended to regular employees. This is on top of the medical benefits that they get under the employees’ health insurance scheme. Departmental chiefs have ignored the woes of their outsourcing employees.
