Tech market analysis firm, Canalys, reported that 30 billion data records were stolen in 2020, which is more than the amount in the previous 15 years combined. There were two big trends identified that have contributed to this. First is the increasing dependence on network technologies which was greatly accelerated by the pandemic. Second is the rise in outsourcing of computer systems.
